An oil painting of an Austrian landscape. Shire horses pull the plough as the farmer guides them in the field. The agrarian landscape surrounds them with farm buildings off to the side. In this small scaled painting Hallberg paid an exceptional amount of attention to the lighting and using vibrant colors to illuminate the charming landscape. Josef Hallberg was a portrait and landscape painter born April 24th, 1912 in Salzberg, Austria. Hallberg studied with Professor Kaufmann and Professor Weichner. He had a long-term stay in America and many study trips to North America as a landscape painter.
